Scene at Sea is a collaborative company working with a selection of highly skilled professional mariners and safety personnel from around the country skilled in all areas of maritime work. From Search and rescue crew through to certified powerboat drivers, professional skippers, powerboat and sailing instructors to certified divers. Scene at Sea brings together the perfect team for each project.

Company Director Jack Shanahan started sailing with his father at the age of 5, and progressed through sailing dinghies to racing offshore sailing yachts, as both a crew member and skipper. Jack participated in thousands of offshore racing miles with notable wins including multiple Irish Sea Offshore Racing Association events and a win in the prestigious Round Ireland Yacht Race. Since 2012 Jack has served as a volunteer crew member with the RNLI lifeboat station in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, and is trained in all aspects of safety and rescue at sea.

Following a 15 year career as an equity trader on the Spanish stock exchange, Jack transitioned to Film & TV as a Prop Buyer and Set Dec coordinator on productions such as the tv series Game of Thrones, and the feature film by Ridley Scott, The last Duel.

With a thorough understanding of all aspects of film production, from script breakdowns, set decoration and prop budgeting, Jack combined these skills and networks to create Scene at Sea.
